| | Farmer friend Well, getting out of my carving funk! I am moving full steam ahead with my rendition of a farmer. One of my first faces from a clay model face (original) Trying to get away from any patterns with charicature carvings. You might recognize the body though it is from a pattern.
I plan on putting him on a base with possibly a tractor. I think he will be holding an oversized wrench. Still open to ideas. Thoughts, critiques and suggestions would be greatly valued.
I am trying to outline with burning, I have not done that before, I hope I am happy with it. Also, still need to detail the face.

| | Re: Farmer friend Just had a thought, I think I might have him holding a duck by the neck and with the other hand have him holding it out for money.
Just a thought. |

| | Re: Farmer friend I really like his face and expression and that little cap.
He could be holding a bunch of carrots and a handfull of cash - lol.
I have a bit of concern about his suspenders and their clasps/buckles. I sorta' of wish the suspenders went straight up and maybe under the collar .... but what do I know about suspenders?
That sure is a nice carving -- thanks for showing us. |

| | Re: Farmer friend Greg .. That's going to be a good looking farmer .. I love the facial expression .. The big hands are going to give it so much character .. So here's just my suggestion ... If your going to put a tractor by him .. put the wrench in the right hand and him holding a cat by the tail in the big left hand .. the cat looks like it's been through the ringer .. The Caption can read .. " Well .. Now I know what that whineing noise was in the Engine " .. I hope that doesn't sound to morbid .. But caricature scenes are great for humor .. Just a idea .. I cant wait to see it when it's finished ...

| | Re: Farmer friend Here is an update photo of sorts.... I am working on the suspenders, still have not detailed the face (nose smaller).
I am trying the duck with money out
Will also try the cat with a wrench if I can figure out how to do the cat and tractor.
Before I glue it down I am going to play and have fun

| | Re: Farmer friend Here is an update. Nose smaller, suspenders tucked in. No cat, could not figure out how to make the cat look right. I will continue to mull that one over and perhaps do it another day.
Ron: This is a charicature carving of and old farmer smiling while holding a duck in one hand and some cool hard cash in the other hand. It will be mounted on an oval base. He is wearing blue jeans and a reddish shirt with suspenders. His hat is yellow and blue .... OH NO .... MIchigan colors... I graduated from Michigan State, what have I done? I clearly was not thinking strait.
