| | Experimenting With The little Guy's Since my work has been so demanding lately ... Minature scene's are gonna have to wait ..
But lately I have tried to experiment with getting more details in the little guys face's ..
So I re-drew a little different pattern with the head bigger and tried it out for a change ..
Now it is only my opinion ... but when you get as small as 2 1/2 and 2 inch characters ... The detail is hard to reveal .. so the face should be the key to giving the character detail .. and that's what Ia'm experimenting with .. making the face more reveiling and the body not as detailed ..
Here is the example's I came up with ..
1. The Painter and Pirate... A 3 inch character done in this style
2. The pattern change
I will display the 2 1/2 , 2 inch and 1 1/2 inch in the reply ...
All are of Basswood and carved with only a knife and a small v tool ..
What do you think ?
Thank's
Gene

| | Re: Experimenting With The little Guy's Gene, I kept lookin, but I guess your 3/4 inch little guy didn't load. Oh well, the ones that did are absolutely great. And yes! the added head size and detail make a difference. I like em. Now, the only thing you got to do (besides posting the 3/4 inch guy) is to do the tutorial where you show the carving steps and their order. Super carvin, Tom H |

| | Re: Experimenting With The little Guy's Gene, those are absolutely just awesome! I am amazed at how well you carve flat plane. Your creativity in faces is just incredible. Thank you for sharing. I love seeing how you can size the carvings differently.

The faces are showing much more expression! When working at that scale I like to use my set of 1.5mm micro carving tools.
