Thanks all, your feedback is inspiring. I'll try to answer a few questions. Hey Gene, your'e right about the baby being a takeoff from one in Roger Rabbit (One of my favorite movies), Steve, the display stands are available from Little Shavers and they really look great to display the eggs on, the eggs are available in basswood, again from Little Shavers or several other suppliers. If ya go carving these rascals be sure to wear a glove on the holding hand as they can slip sometimes.

Nice work Jim! Have you ever tried attaching a piece of dowel for a handle on the bottom of the egg with a screw to get your hand away from the work. Sometimes I use the handle on small carvings so my hand won't cramp up so fast. Not sure if it'll work but may be worth a try. BTW--what kind of drafting do you do? I'm a civil drafter for an engineering. Groan! Using CAD or drawing on the board? I miss drawing on the board. Sorry to hijack the thread but just curious.

Just Carving-Bob,
I'm out of now but used to do years of Board drawing design of aircraft structure. Went to Catia for severals years and could not wait to get away from it! The artist in me took up drafting to make a living and because it was creative and I liked drawing. Later when Computers came along and Catia the design was still there but the fun part of drawing was gone.
Apoligize for the subject change but couldn't resist.

Bob and xsailer,
I did board drawing, architectural, mechanical, and space planning, for many years and still miss it. Then along came Autocad and everyone thought they were a draftsman. Too bad some of the younger folks don't have the board experience. I still do drafting on an as needed basis but had to move to a slightly different field to increase my well being (as in more money ;O)).

Xsailer--thank you for making me somewhat better. I've been in the predicament for about 13 years now--we went to AutoCAD. I sometimes wonder who the machine is me or the computer. I missed the fun of being able to draw on the board but at least I have carving to be creative.

I really enjoyed looking at those egg heads.Like Feb I did a couple from Mary Finns book but they are no way close to yours. I also like to carve my own eggs from basswood. Thanks for sharing.
