Smile Egg Heads Anyone?

I thought you might enjoy seeing how many different looks you can get out of hen size basswood eggs. I enjoy making them but find myself getting dizzy while carving these guys. I think that might be because I'm holding my breath and hoping the tool doesn't slip during the whole process They are fun to carve and make great gifts.

Thumbs up Re: Egg Heads Anyone?

Wonderful Jim ... Your caricature eggs are great ...

It is amazing how many characters you can simply make by using one pattern ..

It just proves that the pattern is not the key ... The one holding the knife with the imagination is ...

Great job on all of them .. but I do like the baby ... which I think resembles a Roger Rabbit character of long ago ... Am I close ?

Great job ..

Gene

The Egg Heads are great. I haven't had the nerve to try one yet even though I've had one sitting on the shelf waiting for my knife for over a year.

The display trivets are a fine idea. What are they in their other life? and where did you get them?

Fantastic egg heads but I agree with the rest, The baby one has my vote. Not that the rest aren't great because they are.

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

I started and egg carving sometime ago and was surprised how hard the wood was and put it away. Can you get eggs made from basswood?
