Find that when drawing in the lines on the Karl Oskar cutout I can get one side ok. But now comes the other side. Have tried rough measuring using a pencil, finger, eraser. Beginning to think that may have to use dividers or a ruler. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to draw the lines so both sides are acceptable for a caricature. Thanks Bob |

Bob, are both sides the same? Not familiar with what you are doing but when I need to make both sides the same, I draw in one side, then fold in half down the middle and trace the other side off the first side using the lines I just drew, to follow. They usually show through the paper. If the outline is the same and you just have different details on the other side, do the above and then sketch in your new set of details... hope this helps, if not, someone on here can probably help you..... one more thought. It's art work. It doesn't have to be, nor should it be perfect. "Close" is probably good enough. Loosen up and go with it. Have fun. Your version might be better than what you are trying to duplicate. best wishes |

I usually draw the high points all the way around the block. So I kinda end up with a grid pattern all around the wood. It gives me reference points that are easier to work on with out having check the other side of the carving.

Hi, both sides are the same. I made a template for the sides, one side is just the template flipped over, and one for the front. I used the lines traced from the templates to cut it out on the bandsaw. Check your PM please. Bob |

Hey Bob, funny this should come up. I just cut the blank yesterday and he is gonna be my next project. On the DVD he makes it look so dang simple, fact is, I think he has a little more experience than you or me, good luck with it. Cliff |
