Default Domingo

Here's the latest bottle stopper. Decided to do a "Conquistador" type figure for Spanish wines. He's about 4" high, basswood, acrylics, BLO and a final finish of Watco Dark wax for "antiquing". As always, comments are welcome.
Thanks for looking!

Steve your work is inspirational. You have a style of your own. He, like most of your carvings is exceptionally life like.

It shows how much more I have to learn. Whether it is the basswood you use, the technique or the sharpness of your tools or my lack of experience it shows how much more I have to improve.

Thank you for sharing, your work does inspire. I think I may have to spend some time practicing some techniques and cuts and working on certain parts of the anatomy or attire, and not worry about a completed project.

I think the helmet might be a good start and then the outline of the face.

Pete

It is not often you get the chance to give some guidance to yourself. That quote of mine I highlighted makes me really think that is what I have to do now. Forget about the end, just do some exercises for the time being to get me to the next level.
