| | Re: Doing The Texas Skip-Completed I have to agree with Lonnie....the sense of movement sets this one apart! Somehow, Lynn, you managed to capture a flowing moment in still life. That's an exceptional rendering.
One more quick comment.....I've been researching the "Lake Gogebic Stagecoach Robbery" with the intention of doing a carving of the scene, and while prowling your blogs came across the stage robbery you did. Now I don't even know if I should continue looking into the incident. As a point of interest, this holdup was the last stage robbery east of the Mississippi. LAST STAGECOACH ROBBERY On August 26, 1889, the Gogebic Stagecoach Robbery occurred on the old highway between Gogebic Station and Lake Gogebic. The name of the hold up man and murderer was Reimund Holzey, the celebrated bandit and generally known as "bad man" who gave his residence as Marenisco, Michigan. The entire circuit court proceedings are in the records of Gogebic County at Bessemer, Michigan. The documents of the case are known as Gogebic County Circuit Court File No. 488. This stage coach robbery is considered as the last one in the Great Northwest, and perhaps in the United States. Reimund Holzey was given a life sentence in Marquette Prison. He was paroled in 1914 and worked in Marquette County. On September 24th, 1952, Holzey committed suicide at his home in Florida, at age 86

| | Re: Doing The Texas Skip-Completed Thanks for all the kind comments.
Al...by all means go ahead and do that Stagecoach. Just because I did one doesn't mean you can't. It was a big project that took a long time but it was really fun figuring out just how to put it all together. |

| | Re: Doing The Texas Skip-Completed That neckerchief must have taken forever to paint! Great job of detail! I love the faces on your caricatures Lynn, really different then any I seen anywhere else. I've taken the liberty of printing several and hanging them on the wall by my carving bench. Hope that wasn't unprofessional. I did a lot of pen drawings over my 40 year career at the University and many time my work was reproduced and sold without my permission. That is unprofessional. I've studied many of your faces and they do look similar, but I like that! It doesn't take a long time to recognize who the artist was. |

| | Re: Doing The Texas Skip-Completed bbeery....No problem. Makes me feel proud that some of my guys are watching you while you work. Maybe they'll pass along some of your secrets.
I agree, my faces might seem similar but like you said thats my style. Now I don't think Granny looks like some of my fellas. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
