The rope will be completely free I hope. People like to touch things and if it was glued in place someone would invaribly pull on the rope and break the fingers. I carved the finger and the thumb with just enough seperation so that the rope will fit tightly between the two. So with it going under the three closed fingers and up and through the other two it should be pretty secure but still movable.

Yep! I've looked in the mirror for almost 65 years and every time I see the same guy looking back at me! A little older maybe, a few more wrinkles but it's the same good looking fella!

I've been looking in the mirror for 70 years ...............my carvings still don't look like yours......is it a special mirror or something......when I look in the mirror I'm so thankful that winkles don't hurt..

Lynn,
I can tell this is going to be an excellent piece. Lots of movement suggested by the pose and I am anxious to see it finished! If ya don't mind me asking, did you use your hinged pattern to locate the arm and leg positions. The part I have trouble getting away from is the typical static pose. Thanks

Jim. That little jointed piece of paper is in constant use. I have about 6 different sizes of the paper figures plus lots of arms with sleeves rolled up, rolled down, just underwear, if I'm working on a particular pose that uses something that I don't have a movable pattern of I'll make one and hang it up with the others. Might never use it again but it's there if I need it.

Action to me makes all the difference.

Thanks Lynn,
Guess I had better make up some paper patterns! If I can come up with a pattern I can carve it, but coming up with the pattern seems to be my hinderance to progressing to where I want to be. Thanks again !

I have the same problem Jim, I guess I'll have to do the same. Lynn I think the faces you put on your carving are great, that the thing I like most about your style of carving.

Lynn, looks like this is going to be another, in a great line of carvings. I was wondering what you use to assimilate the rope. I've looked at all kinds of string, twine, etc., but I haven't found anything that really looks like rope.
