Default Distant Cousin........

As most of you who follow this caricature thread know it was a month or so ago that Arnold Smith of Scott Ga. posted pictures of several carvings that he had recently completed. I was in awe of all of them but the one he titled "Bottoms Up" really caught my eye. I private messaged Arnold and asked if it would be alright to attempt to carve something similar, and being the good old southern boy that I'm sure he is he said by all means go ahead. So with his permission I proceeded to try my hand a one of the "Scott Boys".
Althought he may not be a true Scott Boy maybe he'd pass for a distant cousin.......
He's 9" tall , carved from basswood, painted with acrylic washes and finished with a mix of blo/burnt umber.

Excellent job. You have come a long way with your carving. I like the entire carving but the hands really caught my eye. Those are some of the best hands I have seen on a carving. Do I see a little Lynn Doughty influence in that face?

You really did a great job.

Thanks guys ; and yes Bob T I would have to say that Lynn has had quite an influnce on my style, but there have been MANY others and if I start naming them I'm sure to leave someone out so I won't go there. This includes the painting as well as the carving. I guess it would be safe to say " The members of this forum have been the best teachers that a person could hope to have at any price"
