Default Dave Sabol: Revamped Website!

Caricature carvers may want to check out CCA member Dave Sabol's new website. In addition to great pictures of his Caricature work, he has also posted some of his more recent wildlife art pieces.

I love his style for Caricatures, very dynamic and in motion. I have had several classes with Dave both through club seminars and at his house. If you are interested in Caricature carving, you definately want to take a class with Dave at some point in the future. Tell him "Gary the Carving Padawan" sent you!

Yes, the majority of Dave's work, especially the caricatures, are done with handtools. However, the last time I visited Dave at his house, I did see power carving equipment. He told me that he is starting to use power on his larger pieces (see his "Animals in leaves" series on his website) to help remove wood quicker in the rough out stage and get at hard to reach places. Then, he does the rest of these carvings with hand tools and paints with oils. Dave also does wood sculpting as his occupation, so there is a need for him to finish the larger pieces quicker.

Regardless of hand tools or power, you are correct, his pieces are great carvings!
