| | Re: Cowboy with Saddle-Project Compete Lynn,
I've watched as you've commented about starting various carvings or posted progress pictures and it seems that you are able to complete a high quality, very detailed carving like this quickly.
Am I not judging time correctly?
I'd be curious how long this took and if you have any suggestions for "quickening the pace" of carving so to speak.
Not that I mind poking along as I do, but I go through stages of a carving that seems to take me forever.
This is a very nice carving by the way!! |

| | Re: Cowboy with Saddle-Project Compete That is an absolutely amazing carving. I do have a question....not about this one, but several other of your carvings have kerosene lanterns. How do you do those? I'd like to try something like that.

| | Re: Cowboy with Saddle-Project Compete Al...I turn the top and bottom of the lantern on my lathe using a hardwood like walnut or maple. The globe is made from plex rod which is also turned. The outer arms are made from metal as are the other attachments. By drilling a small hole in the bottom of the globe, you can put in a drop of paint to make it look like a flame. Time consuming but not too difficult if you have the tools. Thanks for the interest. |
