Glad you are all having fun! I have the full plans already drawn, however I must admit that a few of these ideas are tempting...

I really like the stuborn horse/mule idea.... The plans as they stand right now are to do a scene where the cowboy was just bucked off a nasty bull, and the bull has taken dead aim at him.

I may change though, or perhaps I will do more than one.... I am having a heck of a time cutting under and arround his arms and I really don't know how I am going to carve his face. With his arms raised I really can't get to the face. I guess I could cut his head off and do that part seperate. That would allow access to his chest area.

How do you all do those tight places?
thats a good question, and the same thing im having problems with.
i got the armpits donr and widened the crotch, but the face is giving me fits.

although i wanted this old tex dude to look 80 he's got the look of 40 miles of broken glass and potholes.

but i just lost it on his ugly face.

Looks like a good start Greg--have you decided what he is running from? Mrs.

From whatever he's running away from, I hope that he gets away before you carve a big ole dog taking a plug outta his butt-uda! :-)

There is so much motion in there already its fun to imagine alot of things this guy could be doing.

I came up with him looking over his shoulder just a bit.. and carring a dutch oven full of beans. He's "Saving Supper"... from what? Stampede maybe?

Or how about he just grabbed a baby calf from its mother? Momma could be behind in a rage...

I cant wait to see what you came up with..

I don't know Whatsthat, but it sure looks like a scene from the PBR "Beyond The Bulls" TV series, like just the other night when one of my favorites 'Ol' J.W. Hart was bucked off and heading for the rail with one orney looking bucking bull one step behind him.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

AH the possibilities are almost endless. However, iy\t appears more pulling or pushing than running. I like your start for sure.

Well it has been a while

But, I have started back up on this carving. I decided to have a cowboy running from a bull.

I will be adding leather to the chaps, rope, spurs and the assorted bull riding stuff. I am planning on using glue on the base with sand sprinkled on it to give the arena feel. I am trying to decide if I want to put up railing along 2 sides or not? Interested in your thoughts.
