Default Couple of Shipley Bears

Here's a couple of Bears I carved from Mike Shipley's pattern book .. Carving Country Bears .. They are basswood and carved in the somewhat flat plane style ..they are 5 1/2 inches tall and as you can see .. one's painted ..and I left one natural .. These are fun fellows to carve .. especially if you change their clothing .. the one on the right .. I carved a mustache on ..
Thank You for letting me show

Nice bears, Gene! I love the Shipley style, simple but eye catching.

Nice job! I've carved a number of Mike Shipley's Ozark Bears myself but I guess I haven't reached the artistic stage in my carving yet. I like how the lines of their clothes are irregular so that they have that sloppy carricature look and also the cuts on the bears head that give him a wrinkled look. I've got another bear roughed out in the shed. I'll have to dig him out and try again. Thanks for the carving lesson!
