| | Couple of Lynn's Horses I thought that I would share my latest carving ventures. These horses were carved from Lynn's tutorial on his blog. I made one and had so much fun doing it that I just couldn't stop. Now everyone in the family has put in their order for one. Big thanks to you Lynn for the inspiration and your willingness to share, you're the best.
The first horse is 6" tall (not including the gate) and carved out of basswood. The second is 8" tall and out of bass wood too. I sure hope you like them. Let me know what you think. I'm looking for honest opinions and helpful criticism so that I can keep improving so don't hold back. Sorry about the quality of the photos, the lighting was pretty poor.

| | Re: Couple of Lynn's Horses Excellent!!! 5 Stars! I can certainly see why everyone wants one. You're an excellent example of why it's not a good idea to teach seminars or do tutorials.....someone will end up doing your carvings better than you!! Way to go Brandant. You make me proud. |

| | Re: Couple of Lynn's Horses I think thats great! The only change I see right off, is maybe a finer wire for the lariat........ telephone wire is very fine....yours looks a bit large proportion wise............but thats no reflection on your carving, terrific job! |

| | Re: Couple of Lynn's Horses Brandant,
That is a great job. I have also completed one of Lynn's horses and really loved the project. You should be proud of the job you did here. Nice job on painting also. Thanks for showing.....Myron

| | Re: Couple of Lynn's Horses Awesome work makes me want to carve a horse.
The only thing I would change is the background so that the details of the horse show better. Try a sheet of posterboard or even a bed sheet all one color.
As for the carvings being a beginner I can't offer any input. |

| | Re: Couple of Lynn's Horses Dave. I agree that the lariat wire could have been a little smaller but when I squint and see the gate hook and the fantastic job he did on the bit right down to the curb chain all is forgiven.
Brandant...Please, and I'm down on my knees....Please tell me that you didn't use BLO! |

| | Re: Couple of Lynn's Horses BLO, never touch the stuff. I agree that the rope could have been made with smaller gauge wire, but it is a caricature and I kind of like the way it stands out. Thanks for the critiques and keep them coming.
