Default Circuit Preacher

Hi Everybody
Hope i'm not being a bother but i wanted to post another one.I'm up to number 25 on how many carvings i did.This is the preacher in the good old day he would come around and preach on Sunday and do weddings and funerals.I also added a few photos of the next one that i'm carving the head is about 95% finished and i'm starting on the Body I used the roughout pattern that Gene posted you can take this pattern and make any man you can think of.Only tools used is a 1 3/4" and my hacksaw!!!

Nice job Vic .. Love the way you put the Bible in front of him ...

Each time you post .. I just see the improvements on your piece's ....

Pretty soon .. your be getting orders from friends and family .. if it hasn't already started ...

Thanks Gene for all the nice words but when i look at all the nice carvings on the site i know i have a long way to go.I could give them to my friends but thay wouldn't be my friends very long if i did and my family has plenty of fire wood Ha ha.

i realy like the little preacher..


with some micro tools like dockyard 1.5mm-5mm gouges you could go into a whole different level of detail but at $40 + S&H its tough to justify... but you could really work them ears over

i been quite busy and havnt had much carving time, busy with ebay and making knifes and getting some new tools for myself, really antisipatin there delivery,
then you know im going to kick back and make some shavings myself...

i got a box of half dones i need to burn or finish and while cleaning up i found 50 bd ft of baswood i forgot i had, and you know i cant let that age any longer....

great preacher as i said, post the second one as you complete it...

Vic, I really like the preacher and the next one you have started looks like it is going to be very good as well. You've done a nice job on the hair. That's something I really need to improve on.

Good one! lol....I did one a long time ago holding a bible, he has a chicken in his back pocket, everyone knows circuit preachers love chicken! I also have donkey standing next to him with a pack full of hymnals ha ha.........
