While I'm good friends with a number of those "famous" caricature carvers and have been working in this medium far longer than most of them, the prime movers of that group for some reason can't accept my constantly pushing the envelope into other areas. I think that's a rather narrow minded attitude but that's their choice and they can stay confined to the borders they've set for themselves if they want to. Me? I'm having too much fun constantly looking for new ways to expand the craft. Having a log tied to my leg to constantly remind me that I have to obey certain rules is not my idea of enjoyment. So, you're certainly right...if it looks or makes you feel good doing it then by all means knock yourself out and have some fun!!! |
