Default Charlie Red Horse

Here's a first look at one I started yesterday. He's about 17" tall not counting the base so should be quite an impressive figure once painted. I really like his expression. Hope you like him and your comments are always appreciated. A description and a few more photos on the Blog..

Lynn, you have the fellow looking like he knows something that we don't. Very impressive. If you don't mind what is the tallest carving you have done todate.

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert , in five years there'd be a shortage of sand.

I'm finding out that I like the larger scale the best. I'm now working on a 6" tall cowboy and details are vary difficult on something this small. Charlie is looking mighty fine Lynn.....Myron

Thanks for the comments. I imagine under 20 inches would be the tallest I've done. Most of the tall ones are usually geared toward the over 15" category in the competitions. Anything over that becomes pretty difficult with the knives I use and as I've never thought of myself as a chiseler I pretty well stick to the hand held blade.

I can see an excellent carving here, I know he will only improve with each passing day. I eagerly await further photos to follow his development.

What is this about not doing any more videos? Tell me it is not true. I have learned so much from your videos. I'm honestly waiting till I can purchase one of your pieces, so that I can truly enjoy your work and be able to study it when ever possible (hope I did not lay it on to thick, meant every word).

Its funny as I read this post, I was quite envious of Mr. Doughty for being able to carve like he does and to have the time to do it. I am currently carving a small pendant relief carving about 3 inches by 2 inches (and I use the term carving lightly) and it is taking me about two weeks just to get the idea on paper. And i'm talking about something simple like a tree with the mountain as background and the sun in the sky in the corner. And I mean simple, almost cartoonish(best I can describe it, will post pics if I get it done and I am not embarrased by the try). Thats not even putting "Unpredictable" to wood yet........Two weeks........

Again, I'm here holding my breath waiting to see your new carving come to life Mr. Doughty.
