maryjo,

there is a woodcarving rendezvous in branson mo twice a year that has alot of different types of carving instructers as well as three caricature carvers that you carve with a different day throughout the week. here is the website, www.woodcarvingrendezvous.com the fellow that puts it on is ed zinger.

as far as the cca is it is by invitation only, but there are some excellent carvers in there that have classes all over the place so you may find one teaching close by sometime,

hope this helps

bart

CCA Member, Gerald Sears ( http://www.cca-carvers.org/sears.html ) is in your area. He is from Southwest City, Mo.

He will be at the Ed Zinger get-together in Branson this fall. And Gerald teaches classes all around.

I took Gerald Sears class in in Oct.of 06 and enjoyed it very much.I was hoping to locate someone close that I could carve with on a regular schedule. We have a great club in Nevada but there isn't alot of interest in western caricature carving. My ability to travel is limited so a weekly trip to Nevada and a couple of fairly close seminars are usually what I manage in a years time.I'm grateful for the information on the message board,it's wonderful being able to pick the brains of all the experianced carvers.Thank You

Welcome, I grew up in Joplin and my wife grew up on a farm west of Lamar, close, very close to your stomping grounds!
