Question carving small eyes

I have been experimenting more with eyes, and find they are the nemesis of my wood spirits. I seem to be able to do larger eyes in a fair manner, but when I get to littler figures, I am at a loss as there just isnt enough room to be able to carve a good eyes. Other than just punch a hole in the wood and call it an eye is there an effective way to make a little eye? I have searched around the forum here and havent really found anything that seems workable.

I noticed that you searched, but added some links just in case - AND because they contain some good info for reference - even on small eyes.

Check here:

I may regret this! Eye tutorial.

This has a little info:

Problems with faces

There's a tip in here about searching the internet using "carving eyes' as the key word....haven't tried that myself

Eyes on a carving!

This a link to Little Shavers page with different versions of eyes:

Last one:

how to do good eyes on wood spirits

Also, I added "small" into your thread title so that any other possilbe threads on the same subject would show up iln the "Similar Threads" box at the bottom of the page.

You didn't mention what size woodspirit. "Small" to one may not be small to another. Also, if you could post a pic or two of examples of your experiments - what you like/don't like - that may be helpful also.
