Hey Bob I certainly don't have a problem with WCI. Although I do not subscribe I do buy each issue off the newstand. I had several times received the book and it was damaged in route. Of course going through the process with the postal service almost made me go postal. (that's a joke) I think the woodcarving magazine business is relatively new and will go through some growing pains. I hope nothing but the best for Marnie and her ventures. I also get Chip Chats and enjoy. I think it is more of a reporting mag than an instructional one. I still get them damaged sometimes but have no other options. I used to get Wildfowl Carivng but found I really had no interest in bird carving at the time. As for any carving mag I would think it would be extremely hard to satisfy all the carvers all the time, because it is such a wide open field. Some issues of WCI I read cover to cover several times and refer back to, others I skim through and find nothing that really excites me. But it sure doesn't stop me from buying it. I will also continue to buy Woodcarving for that simple reason. have fun carve oldbearx2

uh oh...someone is talking bad about chip chats...I got my first 6 issues and membership in the NCWA all for $8. The magazine is for Beginners and all the way up to the Best in the world... They have advertisements once a year, FREE FOR MEMBERS!.......... Front page pictures showed ribbon winners some times beginners, sometimes World Class artists. Mr.Gallenstein and Tangerman reached out to all the clubs in the country putting out the premier magazine* and visiting shows.. many of the issues have articles about the best carvers in the country as they grew as artists.
The magazine Jumped from $8 to $14 a year in 20 some years with no advertisements other than the free ones in the Mar.-Apr. issue.

Right on Artolver, that's why as I've said before it's the "best bang for a buck" in the carving world and thats including the exchange rate that hikes the price for us Canadjuns subscribers.

OG.
