Rick,
You might even get a tagua nut, slice it, and carve your carving in it...looks like ivory. Look at jewelry ads for simple symbols--intertwined hearts, etc.

How about doing a relief carving of a piano keyboard , say about 8 " long , paint it , place a few cup hooks in the bottom , for car keys , Ect. and cll it a " KEYBOARD" ?
