One of the things that I have noticed is that some very talented caricature carvers use wood burning to add detail work to their carvings. I have never used a wood burner to do any detail work and I would like to know what are the determining factor(s) that you look at when deciding whether to burn or carve the detail? Thanks for sharing and letting us learn. Are there enhancements to detailing that are better done via wood burning?

I use a wood burner for fine textures. Like hair, fur, straw hats, wisker holes etc.
