| | Re: "Beans Again?" Great as usual, I noticed that you said he was one of the smaller ones at 7 inches. So what size do you normally carve? Also do you use the same type of pattern for the head in as far as the rough cut out goes but just on a smaller scale?

| | Re: "Beans Again?" Kevin......Yes, I use the same patterns only on a smaller scale. I normally try to make a 14" character as it really makes an impressive piece. It's the "Elephant in the room" theory......When I set my carvings next to the usual sizes they always stand above them.
Jim. It doesn't really take that much time. I very lightly pencil the main parts on the apron and then use a chisel pointed small brush I modified to do such jobs. It's just like printing with a lettering pen or pencil. Very light washes give the print a washed out appearance which is what I'm after. The smaller print is usually just little squiggles to indicate the type.
Thanks again for all the kind comments. |

| | Re: "Beans Again?" I now have even a greater appreciation for your work Lynn. After completing a couple of your projects from your blog, and now trying one of your cowboys, they are really challenging projects. But I believe this really helps a person to improve. Thanks so much for the inspiration. I agree with some of the others, that apron is really, really something…..Myron
