Default Another Mark G santa/wizard

Everybody else was doing it , so I had to do a couple.I love these, great idea Mark and thanks for sharing. It really sparked my imagination and got me to carving thinner faces.I've been wanting to carve a wizard, now I have the face for it ,so I drew up a wizard pattern based on these faces and started carving it tonight.I'll post in a few weeks when I finish.
These that I did are 4" ,it was some scrap wood I had.The one on the left I did second when I saw that the first one would make a good wizard face so I made it a wizard.I started carving it when Harry Potter movie started on tv and finished it while the movie was going off.(Painted it later)It might look a little like Dumbledor since I was watching the movie.I tried to make glasses for it, but couldn't get the wire bent like I liked it.

Great faces. The guy on the right has a real aged look to him.

J.B.
looks great,
I really like the way the nose is made on these guys, i too found a better way carving the one i completed, plus the 3 yards of noses and eye sockets i did on sticks,

you would never thought using both sides of a palm chisel would produce such a great shape,

yer 2 santas make me think of the before and after the sleigh ride hes fixin to make here inside of 3 weeks,,,, again great job and theres nothing to be ashamed of on these 2

Excellent job, JB. I really like the way you painted them, too. I'm going to have try thinning my paint down some. I like that look!
