Default another little guy to share

Well over a year ago, I purchased "Carving Small Caratures" by Jack Price. As soon as I got it I quickly carved the body...then came the face! Well I'd carve the practice stick, get frusterated, put is away for while, carve another...and so on...Until last winter. I took a class in St. Cloud Mn, With Jen Jensen (Great class, Great Instructor by the way) After her "face" lessons, I went back to the practice stick. This time with some sucsses! Anyway short story long... I finally finished that little guy I started so long ago...all in all I am happy with it...(I intended to make him "younger" but maybe it's because he sat on my shelf for so long)

thanks for looking

Jayson

Somehow, younger faces just aren't as interesting.

Nice work, but I think I'd go cross-eyed trying to work on something that small.

nice little carving Jayson, looks like walmart basswood or walnut hollow brand... ???

whitcree,
its not all that bad if you got longer than average arms, otherwise it takes a vice and reading specs ot a magnification visor,
or all 3 if you get a splinter along with 3oo watts of light to dig it out.
its terrible to find such a fullfilling hobby after i got old. haha

Jayson,
it doesn't sound like you have been carving very long , I think you are doing great,I remember the flustration I had with eyes and noses, I said to myself I'm smarter than this wood ( not much tho. ) so i bought some books (3) by Pete leclair, went slow step by step that really helped me,.Keep up the great work.
Just old Jim
