Default Andy Anderson On E- Bay

Just found a new e- bay listing on a wonderful carving by Andy Anderson ... it's called " The Banker" ... Ia'm fortunate enough to live just 18 miles from the Stark Museum of Orange , Texas that houses a large collection of Andy Anderson's work ..So I have been able to view his unbelievable collection of work .. If you ever get a chance too view any of his work it's something to see .. Especially his court room scene .. Some carvers calll him the father of Caricature Carving .. Ia'm enclosing four photo's of this carving . Enjoy ...

An absolutely fabulous carving. In looking closely at your photos, I noted that, while the black of the ink bottle might have been placed on the desktop to indicate an ink stain or spill, the red of the clock on the desk wouldn't fit that thought. An unsolvable mystery!

I sure wish someone would do a book about Andy with tons of photos of his work. He was the best!

Dave....I think you figured it out. RED INK! Next question.....what did he mean by only tipping that bottle. Is the bank operating in the Black or has he dipped his pen into the Red bottle so much that he knocked it over?

Another wonderful story I heard about Andy Anderson was that he influenced the life of a young man who just came out of the service and picked up his book " carving characters in wood " and became interested in carving . That young man was Harold Enlow ..

I can't remember the episode number but in one of the Andy Griffith Mayberry shows a Anderson figure of a wrangler shows up. Years ago we were taking a tour through William S. Harts home CA and I noticed another Anderson figure setting far back in an old display cabinet collecting dust. I pointed it out to one of the employees but I doubt if they every did anything about it.

I remember that episode Lynn .. It was about a cousin of Barney Fife's who was a a bungling idiot who couldn't do anything right .. but his father was a woodcarver and had taught him to carve . Opie (Ronny Howard ) had them and told Andy Griffth that this young man had carved them for him .. It was a cowboy and a dog by Anderson ..I had forgotten about that .. Also if anyone is interested .. In the new mini series "Broken Trail " on TNT .. Robert Duvall carves little horses and figures while out on the range all through the movie .. He even presents a carving of a horse to some indians they run up on .. and figure of a little girl to a woman ..

When I looked at it yesterday .. It's started off bid was only 99 cents .. Can you believe that ! .. But that wont be for long .. I have seen most of his carving's go for around .. $700.0 to over a $1000.00 or more ... You can check it out on E- bay on search ..just type in Andy Anderson ..
