Default What am I doing? I seem to be moving into a different style of carving......

I started out doing characature types.
But lately my figures are becoming more realistic ( this is due to my selling them, I imagine.)
Can some of you look at this figure, and label the style for me?? I'm somewhere in the carving "twiligt Zone"

Im like Curt, never had any lessons but like him also, its a neat carving!!

Question, what is the size of this carving?? Plus what type of wood is she carved from? Knowing this helps me to appreicate it better.

Default The carving of the girl is 7" tall, and its bass wood.

Boy, they aren't kidding when they say a camera adds ten pounds. LOL
Shes actually a "leggy" beach girl in a scene I'm doing. Thx for the good words guys.
But I still am curious about what it is I'm doing.

Hi Jim,
Nice work, I never went to art school either, but as far as I can see this piece would be considered realism or maybe classical realism.
Brett.

From what I've seen at carving shows I would say "Realistic or lifelike human in the round". It reminds me of one of Harold Enlow's Country Folk. Either way it's great. I'll bet it's even better in person.

I had the same problem and when I needed new buisness cards, I changed " Hand carved caricatures" to " Knife carved figures" Big Al
