Default #2 in my series of small cowboys

Recently I have been watching the Gene Messer videos on doing a small cowboy and have really-really enjoyed them. They are available here on this site FOR FREE. Thanks Gene for the inspiration. Also a big thank you to Don Mertz at the Woodbeecarver web site. Don also does some really great little cowboys. I have also been checking out everything I can find on Pete LeClair. Wow what a carver. I’ve known this for many years but just wanted to mention Pete’s name. Thanks Pete for all the patterns that you share with us. I also enjoy so much checking out all the western figures posted here on this site. I could continue to name great carvers that we all learn from but better get to the point here. This little cowboy is about 6-1/4” tall not counting the base. The base is about 3-1/4” diameter. This is number 2 in my series of small (lots of fun) cowboys. Hope you all like him. These are my first pictures taken using a photo “Cool” bulb. I still need to work on picture taking but they are getting a little better.…..Myron

Myron that is one fantastic carving!

Love the scalloped hat brim and the pigeon-toed look. The boots curled up too.

What gets me is your extreme attention to detail and the overall neat and clean look to your work.

Amazing stuff.

Your little cowboy is a winner. Everything about him is first class. Looking forward to seeing the rest of them.

Myron....that's one terrific job of carving one of my favorite subjects....done a few myself, but they sure can't compare to that carving job!! Love the way you painted him, too...and the hint of shadow for beard on his face. Bonnie

Really like your little Cowpoke Myron! Lot's of amazing detailed carving and painting on him...makes him darn near perfect right down to the way you mounted him on the base... Keep'em up and we'll keep admiring them! Continued safe carving to you!

That's a great carving Myron. There's not a lot of cowboys up here in Nova Scotia, but I'd say that's about the best I've ever seen.
Thanks for sharing;
Soggy
