| | Re: Yay! New Carving Tools and a Block of Wood! Hi Anita, I know how excited you are about your new tools.. I am expecting my new micro knives from Rick any day now and can't wait.. I am saving my wreath on Santa's head and hands for them... goody , goody.... I was wondering if anyone has carved four or five things and have such good results and then on the next one .. Wammo.... nothing works out well .. I just came short of throwing my roughout into the pond!! lol but put it on the shelf and started another one that Curtis had cut out. The wood was so hard it was dulling my knives going and coming and I could not get things right.. Has anyone had this problem? It sure was discouraging and made me think.. Why in the world did I think I could carve.... ![001[1]3424](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/001[1]3424.gif) Charlotte |

| | Re: Yay! New Carving Tools and a Block of Wood! Charlotte, every once in a while, we all have a bad day. That's when you go spend money on tools, books, wood, clothes--well, ya gotta replace all them clothes ya ruin when you're painting or carving--right?
Save the carving for another day--and I bet it'll go even smoother and the carving will turn out better than you expected!
And whatever you do, don't go throwin' da wood in the pond!! Otherwise the geese will be sneakin' in yer house in the middle of the night and stealin' yer best carvin' tools!!

| | Re: Yay! New Carving Tools and a Block of Wood! surprisingly, Wal-Mart sells small(and I mean pocket sized) chunks of basswood in the craft section. it'll cost about $5 for 10 pieces in roughly 2 different sizes | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
