Default Woodspirit help

Can someone point me in the right direction, trying to carve a woodspirit, and just isn't happening...got a local club about 20 miles away, but meets during the work week, how about a book or video?...tks..Dennis

If you have a carving club that close go for it! There are a number of tutorials on woodspirit carving....put it on google

Their are several video's out that I'd really recommend.One is Woodspirits by Rex Branson,Another one is by Skylar Johnson,both are very good.

If you can get to a club you'll get alot more than from a two dimensional picture or video. Once you get the fundamentals down, I would then search out reference material. We don't have a club formed in our area yet but we do have a master carver who puts on courses and offers free open drop in times. His advise and experience is invaluable. I learn everytime I get a chance to carve with him. Good luck with your search and be sure to post your work. You'll also get great advice and tips from the carvers on this site.

and you'll find 10 different Wood Spirit books. I have Tom Wolfe's Wood Spirits and Walking Sticks book and I've used it a lot for the "how-to's".

Ya beat me to it Mitchell.

Unfortunately the first link is dead. It seems that when I gave Greg's site credit for helping me learn to carve woodspirits on a Yahoo board/group he removed the page.

I guess since he was/is selling CDs he didn't want to give anything away for free.
