Wow, what a day we had today at the Carve In at Foxfire.
We had 24 carvers from around the area attending. We started with introductions of those from around Rogers. Represented were from Flint Ridge, Grove, Ok, Bella vista and Rogers AR groups. Everyone introduced themselves and told a little about their carving journeys. Then we visited and shared with each other our specific carving of the day. Never tireing of helping others with problems. Lunch was at 12 Noon. The spread included Chili, Potato soup, sandwich fixings, 2 lemon pies, brownies, chocolate cake, and other trimmings. After lunch we did a show and tell and picked up several tips used by carvers. Each incurraged questions. Group broke up at 4 but were reluctent to leave. I think everyone really enjoyed their visit to Foxfire.
This was a great way to meet carvers around your area.
Now on to the April meet. More information to come on that event.

If you are in our area, we have a free carving assistance class at Foxfire clubhouse starting next Tuesday, to carve a Civil War Soldier with Stan McKenzie one of our members. The class will use a 2x2x8 piece of bass wood, you furnish, for the body and a 1x1x3 piece for head which will carve separately. Stan will help with painting too. It will take several weeks at the Tuesday carve in (11 to 4) to finish, maybe longer, depending on your speed. We all have a great time and are having about 15 getting together each Tuesday. Last Sunday we had 27 in attendance.
Beginners welcome

Our 2nd quarter carve in at Flint Ridge went real well. Had good attendance and Lynn shared his expertise again impressing everyone. The next carve in is going to be at Grove OK hosted by the carving group there. For additional information and a map you can go to my web site and go to the Grove tab. Date is July 14, 2012 from 10 to 4. Or you can email Lynn direct.
This is a great opportunity to meet area carvers and get some tips too. Hope to se some of you there.
Charlie
