Default Wood Spirit in Round Post

Everything I see on here and in books seems to show carving the Spirit on the corner of the block. I'm wanting to carve a wood spirit in an OLD cedar fence post. PLEASE, can someone suggest the steps involved to accomplish this?
Thanks Tucker

Here's an on-line tutorial for it.

I haven't done one using it but it should be a place for you to start.

Hey Mike, thanks a ton for the site you mentioned. That's one of the best I've seen, I'd call it a "Git ER done" site for sure. Can't wait to get started, still lookin for someone to show me how to sharpen a whole load of gouges and stuff.
