Hi, I have been carving for some time, just not using wood. Well, I am intrigued with textile wood block printing and would like to try my hand at some simple patterns. I have a flexcut carving set, and a Dockyard micro set. I am wondering what type of wood to use to make wood block textile stamps? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Wyne |

Hi Welcome. One of the best woodblock cutter/printers is Maria Arango www.mariarango.com Also, she does some wood block engraving. Seems to be very fond of cherry wood. When you expand the details of any of her wood block prints, she does list the kind of wood that she used. I printed my first wood-cut in April and plan to do a dozen more this winter. |
