| | Re: WIP Another Woodspirit Thank you Thor, I think with each new one I get a little more experience. The eyes are still the hardest for me but will keep at it. This is the first one I gave a hat need more practice in that department too.
Nope no time left to carve for me headed to rainy Northern California to be with the kids. Funny though I'll be planning new carves in my little head while away. LOL Merry Christmas, Kathy |

| | Re: WIP Another Woodspirit FINISHED FINISHED!
I decided to use acrylic paint on this one and name him 'Red Hat'. I actually didn't get him painted until today--more time now.
Now it's time to move on to another one. Got some cottonwood limbs and have started a 'limbspirit'.
As always I appreciate your thoughts and comments for improvement. ![004[1]1](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/004[1]1.gif) New Year,
Kathy
colors used: paynes gray, cad. Red lt, perm. green, white and yellow ochre. Finished with a coat of acrylic varnish.

| | Re: WIP Another Woodspirit Hi Kathy, cute little guy, looks like your getting better and better, your ability improves with every carving. A tip for carving hair that I found on of the websites, is to carve it in an elongated S shape, try that on your next woodspirit. This was a tip from Harold Enlow, that I encorparate in my carvings.
Also if your carving keeps improving these moderaters may kick you out of the beginners section

Mel Thumbs up Ha, Ha, Mel I don't see that happening anytime to soon--it's real safe here for us beginners. I'm not ready to climb out of the box yet! Thank you for the tip I read the section on the S curves you mention. Ordered and just received this week my Enlow book on carving driftwood. His carvings are more like what I'd like to strive for. It's a good goal. New Year, Kathy |
