You too? Well it is a great book.

Carve any wood you want or have. Do a few carvings like that, then get a piece of basswood. You will think you died and went to heaven. But found wood is still cheaper.

I started with a piece of Red Cedar. Â*Actually turned out nice. Â*I'm told some folk are alergic to it so if you are the alergic type might be well to give this one a bye. Â*Smells so nice though. Â*Sharp tools are the best saftey device. Â*Be safe wear a good carving or fish scaling glove or you'll never get to be a hand model! Â*You can pick up a fish scaling glove at Wal-Mart or K-mart or buy a purpose designed glove from one of the carving equipment suppliers. Â*Nothing will dampen your enthusiasum for this hobby quiker than [glow=red,2,300]stitches[/glow]

There is numerous books and tapes on the market about carving but they all cost too much, would you know a place wher I can find used books, tapes?

You can buy new or used at amazon.com...also you can do a google search...seems like there is one called halfprice or half .com or something to that effect!

I have had good luck in finding books and patterns at my local library. Some were older but have good basic methods of carving. Also if there is a carving club in your area, check it out. Most have a members library. Hope this helps.

Hi...thanks for the tips...I went to our local library and found one book that show me how to start carving...and also found some interesting magazines...chips chats..
