Well done Mark, plenty of character to your Spirit! Excellent job on the detail and his general appearance, love the flow of his "stash". One suggestion for your next one....use a stouter stick so your carving doesn't weaken the strength of the stick, wouldn't want it to break during use, and your carving has great depth. Great job on your first effort, very well done.

Bob

Mark, great job!!! That stick is a keeper. I particularly like where you have positioned your carving, just above the bend in the stick. This places the face looking upward to the stick's owner.

Just great!!!

Nice expressive face Mark. What kind of wood, and what tools did you use? Tom H

Mark, there are lots of great woods to use, I enjoy working Cherry for sticks, but just about any hard wood will do fine. Are you using edged tools or power? You can get into some harder woods using power, Maple for example. Lots of folks enjoy Diamond Willow for walking sticks. What ever works for you.
