AAKKKK! Sorry to hear about the hand. I stuck myself once. I was using a palm skew chisel and it manged to slip off the carving, into my wrist. Fortunately I was wearing my carving glove. Somehow, I still don't know how it happened, the chisel put a small cut in my wrist but the glove remained intact. Strangest thing... No stiches, just a bandaid and lots of blood.
I do love that about carving. The tools are (supposed to be) so sharp and they cut through you like a shard of glass. You don't feel a thing. And better still, the wounds bleed so much that you don't need to worry about an infection
By the way, you people were talking about butcher/fishermans gloves a couple pages back. Allow me to clarify. There is no such thing as 'chain mail.' Lets all say it together THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS 'CHAIN MAIL.' Nor is there 'ring mail' or any other such thing. It's mail, just plain mail. Some/most of the butchers gloves today are welded mail. The only thing stronger than that is a gauntlet, great for swordplay but lousy for carving. Ah, I'm done ranting now.
Get well soon Chris.
