I use it on nics all the time, stays on better then a bandaid and it keeps me from having to do extra carving to get the blood stains out of the wood, just hard to remember not to pick it off...it makes big cuts out of small nics :

I worked for a dentist that used OTC superglue on his patients and himself. No one seemed to care at the time. May not be permitted today. That was a long time ago.

While I can't say anything as to the toxitity to humans , I can say that in a pinch I have used it to seal a cut with no more ill after effects than a scar, however it did burn till it cured . Again preferable to bleeding all over your nearly finished carving ( takes a lot of primer to cover it and keep it from bleeding through paint and just makes a wood stained area darker than you want to be ). But on the serious side if you have an area that you plan to carve with a dremel that is very soft and delicate you cant beat it for firming the area up to the stress , expriementing will tell you when to use it and when to use a lot of it . Also, the best place to get your super glue is the flee market , the one close to me takes place every month and has the glue for $1.00 for 6 tubes on a card .

Seems like we are all cutting ourselves a lot while carving? I'd better get to the store and get another box of bandaids as I'm down to only 2 or 3 left. Oh, I'd better stop and get some Super Glue too.

Have not had the occassion to try this stuff on a carving cut, but it works well on blisters and assorted scrapes and scratches (burns a bit when you put it on).

'New Skin' available at WalMart

Don't remember what it cost, so can't be too much.

the vietnam erra super glue was found to cause cancer in labritory animals im sure thats what i remember, as to why its not used on humans...

I find the Super glue JELL don't seam to work as well it seams not to stick to skin as good.. and cuases a build up when using it to replace fragile mistake chips in carvings...

new skin is simmular to clear nail polish, bleeding cuts can take up to 4 applications to be strong enough to keep from reopening.. and /or stop bleeding..

in the 70's i worked in the 'klick clak factory' a toy constisting of 2 fiber glass balls 2 inches round glued to a boot lace with a handle in the mid point between the balls.

the game was to make the balls bounch against each other and keep it going with repetive klick clacks without killing your forearms when the balls missed each other.. the balls blowed up when to much resen was used, the strings would pull out after some time. and the toys were banned to be carried. by children,, in denver.. as they were using them as nunchucks on each other.

while back to the super glue we used it by the quart to glue the boot laces into the fiber glass balls. the size of gear shift knobbs...

coke cans, shoes, smokes, people, lunch kits, purses and everything would wind up glued to the work benches,,

one gal squirted it in her eye...
the 70's 'crazy times........ '

but as fas as i know no one wound up with cancer.. so far..
