Default will styrofoam dull knives

Hi all,

I bought a fake pumpkin, that's hollow and said to be "carvable" made out of some sort of styrofoam. I think my carving knife would do a great job cutting it, but I don't want to use if it will wreck the knife.

It (the styrofoam) may dull the knife somewhat, but since you will be doing only a relatively small amount of carving, the blade should buff back into shape easily enough. If I were carving such an item, I would opt for an exacto type knife instead. Sharp, but inexpensive.

Buy a cheap pumpkin carving set with the mini saw or grab your thinnest steak knife and go to work. Why use your good carving knife on foam?
