Unhappy Still need help in sawing blanks ?

Head Bange Oh how I wish somebody would help us sawing out blank. I just went and messed up a small block I have a hard time picturing in my mind in sawing out the views. And I know we have talked about it alot but I'm still turned around.

Mr. Bears...Sir!! Have you tried cutting out the pattern on plain white paper (print it out on your computer to the same size as your wood) and then gluing it to the wood. Glue both the side and the front or back views on and make sure that you glue them on aligned. Then all you need to do is cut along the dotted line...

Hey there,
I use the same technique as Eddy and it works really well. Once you cut out one side of your carving tack the pieces you removed back on with a bit of hot glue. This will provide support for cutting the other side view of your blank. I hope I said that right and didn't confuse you more.
another short tip, be sure that your wood is square. If it's not is will affect your pattern.
Dan

Two good points Dan! Even a slightly out of square piece of wood will skew the finished blank if he's cutting right on the line and not allowing any extra.
