Question Where to start, newbie wanabee a carver

I would like to carve corbels for fireplaces. Have no tools or books on subject, wondering what to buy to get started. I can't draw , no artistic talents so patterns will be the way to go. Smile

Also, it may do some good to look at other "Beginner" posts to get an idea on Safety, tools, etc. When searching, a good tip is to look at the bottom of the page for a listing of similar threads (discussions). Usually, if the original title is clear, the site will pull up similar topics.

A bit of difference in price, though (ouch!). I absolutely agree about the safety issue also. I am not that good at carving yet and would be hesitant to pick a project that required exact duplication until I had more. Just something to think about.
