Here are some of my holiday carvings to be painted. Instead of leaving the back of the ornaments bare I've done a bit of wood burning (learning to enhance carvings with a bit of wood burning). Thanks for looking. I'm waiting for the Holiday 2011 issue of WCI magazine. I get each issue of the WCI magazines some three weeks after its launch (I'm half-way on the other side of the globe from the States). Wishing all on the forum, "Happy Holidays!" Ezzy

Thanks, Herb and Gene, for your compliments. Gene, your "Carving a folk art angel" on Youtube inspired me to carve one too. Here's a clearer shot of the Santa ornaments (the earlier one was shot at an oblique angle) with a couple of Santa headbands wood burned to give a unique look. The carvings were done on 1" x 1" x 3" or 4" jelutong sticks. Again, thanks for looking. ![]() Ezzy

Congratulations, Ezzy! I like it how you fill the back of your ornaments. It's a good idea because I usually just generally paint them green. Dino

Nice job on the carvings, I really like the wood burning you did. Great idea to burn some of the headbands. Merry Christmas to you as well!

Thanks, Dina and Texas Steve, for looking and the compliments. I picked up the idea from some of the postings on this forum, so its not an original idea of mine. I've just finished painting the Santa ornaments and here they are. Apology for my poor painting skills. ![]() Ezzy

Nice carving, burning and painting. Seeing how other people do things and incorporating them into your way of doing things makes your style.

Nice job on the Santas! I really like the burnings you did on the back. After seeing yours, it's something I might "pick up" from this forum and try myself some time. Thanks for sharing Eric |

Great job Ezzy - I too am carving the Folk Art Angel from Gene's video series (actually 2) for my grandkids. Thinking about chip carving their names across the bottom. Your angel looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing! |
