Default Smilies

Not sure where to put this question, so I will put it up here.

I like the Cowboy Smilie on this forum. He has special significance to me, mainly because of my background with performance horses and the fact I am a supporter of the North Queensland Cowboys in our national competition.

Different football to yours but just as competitive. What I wanted to know is how I can print a copy so I can enlarge it then carve to see what happens.

Any ideas as it seems as well as a beginning carver, my computer skills are not much better either.

Pete

ps

I think he will look cool in a number of things, eg. bottlestopper, mounted on a stick, mounted on end of pen or pencil, the list goes on. Might be a potential gift idea coloured in team's colours.

Thanks Ivan.

That's the little dude I wanted. I worked out how to E Mail the little guy to me and when I printed him out he is perfect. Just the size I need. I can now attempt to carve him up or down if need be. But he is the perfect size for my first practice.

I have to put a little star with a bulls horn on it in the middle of the hat, but I have got something to copy that.

Did you draw him or were you able to export him into a file for downloading.

Thanks again,

Pete

Thanks to everyone for their wishes. I have received so much help from a lot of people. Quite a few have sent me PMs and E Mails.

I do not like to name them in case I forgot someone and appear rude. But to give you an example. A member has sent me some information on how to carve a Leprechaun. So, I have been busy doing that, I have just finished and painted it, but while I am pleased with my first real carving attempt it will not be shown here.

Mainly because I know it is a crude attempt and false praise to encourage sometimes has the opposite effect on me. At least now I have put my foot in the water and I can actually see the areas I have to improve in, hopefully I can work on one area at a time and develop from there.

One thing I am pleased with is that I made my own carving knives from HSS metal circular saw blades. This caused me to set the bevel and perfect the learning curve to razor sharpness. So, in the short time I have been with you guys, with your help, I have been slowly improving my skills.

Now, the next part of the journey is to work out what I am good at and what areas I should avoid, at least initially so I can develop my own particular style.

Pete

ps

One thing I have noticed, When I finished this Leprechaun, I just left iy in my office, but each day, when i pick it up ,I see an area that can be improved, so, a snip here and a snip there. The next day, I look at it again and I see another small area that could do with some refining.

Thanks to all.. The Cowboy Hat is my next little project. All building blocks.
