P.S Miss Nancy, Curtis says you are a real Jewel when it comes to finding things. Do you know where to find a strop like Curtis has?

Sorry Gibbs, I've never seen a strop like that, but it sounds easy enough to make. I bet you could find enough different sorts of leather around the house (old belts, leather coats, purses), craft stores, etc, and canvas would be no problem. Any sturdy fabric would work - so would a piece of felt, huh?

Nancy, Curtis said to tell you that he did make one for his Grandson that was a little smaller, and he didn't have the canvas but turned an old piece of leather over for the canvas side. That was when he use to have some spare leather...

Big Wayne, we scanned a picture of the strop to our picture trail site. It is under the Album Carvings.... Is this like the one you saw? Our PictureTrail site is at the bottom of this message.

Hi ho, the handle looks homemade eh? No, Curtis bought two of them at the Smokey Mountain Woodcarving show in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. He did make one for our Grandson , Jacob thought. It was a little smaller . I guess it would't be hard to make, with a little know how. It has really served it's purpose for about ten years.
