Hey, everyone,
Thanks for all the ideas. I can see not everyone does the same thing when it comes to sanding or if and when to sand at all. But all of your ideas help in giving options. I especially like the recommendations of what numbered grit sandpaper to be using at different stages, etc. What I was thinking of sanding is a rough cut, unmilled piece of basswood that I am going to use for a relief piece. I just wanted the loose, rough stuff off of there so I can trace my pattern carefully. As it is right now, the pattern would not trace well so I think amongst all of you, you have given me enough information that I can proceed. I know I can always get good advice from the WCI message board!
