Just 'cleaned' it out, so this is easy - everything is laid out on the basement floor.

25 knives
22 palm gouges
3 intermediate size gouges
two punches (for making buttons)
glove and leather thumb guard
two rolls of athletic tape (for protection)
bandaids, 'super' glue,
compass, 5 pencils, flat strop, arkansas stone, diamond sticks, Flexcut gouge strop, compound, 3 rubber bands, three unfinished (and forgotten) small carvings, 7 scrap pieces of wood (approx 1/2 x 1/2 x 2'), pattern wheel, drill bit, toothbrush, scrap paper, paper towel (trash?), 6 business cards (3 mine, 3 others), old can of Skoal, 1 penny, 1 nickle, and wood chips....

I have more 'tools' than this, but these were the one's that I actually took around to carve with. This is entirely too much!I am in the process of reorganizing and want to have 4-5 gouges, 4-5 knives, and the Flexcut strop.

Ed will take the skoal but if you want to give away any of the tool put my name at the top of the list. I could never pass up free tools. LOL

I think I will keep the tools, just not in the box to take with me to carve away from home. A few need a little work to bring back to good condition. I want a 'home tool box' and a 'travel tool box'. Right now they are the same, and not all my tools will fit in the thing. I thought I needed a bigger box, but really I just need to reorganize.

As far as the skoal, I can't hardly carve without it! This can was in the bottom of the box, so I'm not sure how long it's been there. It was a little dry!

My tool odd tools that I dont show anyone, are tools I made myself. I have a chisel that is about 1/16 inch, made from a cut nail and a dowel. And a 'chisel' i made from a bandsaw blade and scrap of wood. The latter is actually interesting, I ground off the teeth, and sharpened the end down to a very low bevel. I use it to push through wood when a normal chisel will spplit the wood. I used to use it quite a bit when i was doing chains and balls in cages.

Default I Re: What's in your toolkit?

Other than the well known brand of tools that most are aware of, I allso have the following:
krazy glue .....for small finger cuts.
a bag of clay to practice a cut on prior to carving.
gummi bears....for me.
a dentist's tool for scraping out hard to reach places.
a palm nail driver to use as a mallet on larger carvings.
a picture of my first carving and one of a carving by a master
carver in this group . This let's me judge where I am at in my carving ability.

Whittlebit.

Way more than I need, but not nearly as much as I want.
