Default Rookie Chainsaw Carver

Hello All

My name is Gregg Colton and I just finished my 1st chainsaw carving. I made a chair for my son. Since this was my first carving and I had a blast doing it, I was wondering if there was anybody that lived in Colorado that could give me some pointers as far as tools, technique, etc. I am really interested in doing wildlife carvings like bears, eagles, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Gma,
Goto this link,
http://www.network54.com/Forum/118564/
it is another forum (chainsaw only). Good folks at both forums, but more Chain saw types on the other. Enjoy! I'm fixing to do some chainsaw carving myself.

Hi all I am new to your forum, it is a real joy to chainsaw carve I have been carving for over 6 years , now I am doing it full time. I do not know any one in Colordado, If you can go to a chainsaw carving event, you can watch 20 to 30 carvers at a time

Welcome aboard, Gregg.

I don't know if we have any chainsaw carvers, but you would certainly be welcome at the Colorado Carvers Club. If you are around metro Denver, come to a meeting on the second Sunday of the month at the Grange building at 32nd and Youngfield.

I don't make it to the meetings all that often, but I play hooky from church once in a while. If you decide to come, let me know and I'll make an effort to be there.

In any case, you will enjoy the club's annual show at the Jefferson County fairgrounds in October.

Here's a link for more information: http://www.coloradocarvers.org/

You can also send me a private message on this board if you want to know more.
