Ya, they still use those old "Spithead Nightengales" in our Navy, Canadian Navy. We didn't have to share bunks though. You should see a bunch of teen-aged girls "jump", early in the morning after a sleepover, if you use a bosuns pipe to pipe "Wake-a-wakee!" (It's a very loud, piercing, high pitched, twirling "pipe" used to wake up the ships company at sea or in harbour.) It works! My daughters still haven't forgiven me!!!
