Default Question on Ricks beginner kit.

I am beginning to carve, and I already have some tools, but I am trying to deside wether I should add the Little Shavers beginners kit to my tool colection or buy them individualy and assemble my own set. I can't post the tools I have because they have already been added to another post. To see what I have, go to WOODCRAFT and look up these tools--detailing kit ($20), Swiss made chip carving knife A, and the strop is the Slipstrop. The carvings I want to do is in the round, relief, and caricatures.

Default Re: Question on Ricks beginner kit.

If any of the tools in the Little Shaver's Kit will duplicate what you already have then I would recommend that you order your tools seperately from Rick. Give him a call, tell him what you have, tell him what you plan to carve and he'll be more than happy to make some suggestions. Although having duplicate tools doesn't hurt, based on my own expereince, I don't recommend it for beginning carvers. Money can be better spent elsewhere!
