Rick, at your "little shavers " site while explaning how you carved the Hobo , Page one you said that " you scaned the sketch into your computer " I can do that. What I don't understand is what program you used to refine it . You said you used "the print set up " What is that? Thank you for sharing with us your knowledge of carving . Just old Jim

Jim, If you are asking about: "I begin my pattern with a rough pencil sketch; after scanning that sketch into my computer, I refine it and using the print setup, scale the front and side views to match." I use a program called Picture-It to refine it. You can use Paint which is located by clicking [Start] - [All Programs] - [Accessories] - [Paint] You can do the resizing with MS Word; here is how. If you want to carve the hobo I just finished, go to this page and save the pattern to your Documents. Give it a name like "Ahobo" which will keep the file near the top of the list. http://www.hobosinwood.com/MakingAHobo.html Open MS Word; then open the picture in Word by clicking [Insert] - [Picture] - [From File] - [My Documents] locate your saved file and double left click on it. At this point you should have the sketch on MS Word. Right click on the picture - left click [Format Picture] - [Size] Here you can resize the picture with the ratio locked (keeping the pattern to scale) or not (making it fit your wood). Click [File] - [Print] - [OK] Good luck; if you have any problem, let me know. Last edited by rick-in-seattle; 11-08-2005 at 10:01 PM. |
